The "Worlds Tallest Cut Christmas Tree" was kid of a hoax in that to move it 70 miles on 1950 roads they cut all the branches off, then when wiring them back on they added branches from half dozen other trees for a total of 2000 rater than a few hundred.
I'm sure it made it look better as a Christmas tree because a 200 ft Fir in a grove will shed lower branches that don't see Sun.
