The Flamboyant Cuttlefish

Watch two flamboyant cuttlefish at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Why do they flash colors like that? One would think it is either a mating dance of sorts, or maybe a challenge to fight other cuttlefish over territory. But according to Wikipedia, this amazing light show is to announce its poisonous character. The colors scream, "Don't eat me!" And that's why they aren't hunted for human consumption- their flesh contains acids that are quite toxic. (via Born in Space)
