The Eye Exam

Ain't it the truth? You see an eye doctor, tell him/her you can't see, then they don't believe you. My optical examiner is astonished at my lack of vision, then tells me my current lens prescription is fine. This comic is from Nathan Pyle's Strange Planet.

Barring being blind in either eye, at an eye exam they ask you which is the smallest line of print you can read of several lines.
You can see smaller print, you know it's there, you just can't read it. By covering each eye in turn they determine if the reason you can't read the smaller print is it's blurred by your eyes not working together.
