In the opening skit last night, Saturday Night Live spoofed the very real meeting between White House officials and social media influencers that happened last week. It's a ridiculous premise that could only come from real life. You might even recognize some of the social media characters from viral snippets you've seen here and there. At least I did, and that is a hard thing to admit.

My internet interactions go back all the way to the old AOL dial-ups and doing everything in either Basic or MS-DOS. Even then I never got involved in Tripod, Geocities, or MySpace.
Fast-forward almost 30 years — I do not do Tikky-Takky or Instagram, or any of the come-and-go services that preceded them. I couldn't stand Vine (six seconds clips of nonsense, was the way I saw them). I don't blog or do Tumblr, nor do I have any presence on Farcebook or Twatter.
And it's stuff like this that makes me realize I'm not missing a thing.
