Princess Nicotine; or, The Smoke Fairy is an early special effects film from 1909, or what they called a "truck film" at the time. A pipe and cigar smoker falls asleep and has a strange dream of fairies messing with his tobacco. Director J. Stuart Blackton and cinematographer Tony Gaudio used mirrors, double exposure, hidden wires, oversized props, and stop motion to amaze audiences of the time. (via Boing Boing)
