The Marvel movie Madame Web opened on Valentine's Day and made quite a splash with scathing reviews from all corners. What it did not make was much money. While the movie, starring Dakota Johnson as the superhero Madame Web, reached expectations in its opening week, the box office take sank every day afterward, and Madame Web barely made back its production budget, barely touching its promotional expenses. The movie became a meme as a metaphor for how bad Marvel films have progressively become, and was compared to Morpheus, which became a joke. What does Screen Junkies think of Madame Web? You can imagine, but it's much worse than that, as you'll see in this Honest Trailer.

I could never understand delving deeper and deeper into a series of comic books and using marginal characters as fodder for feature movies simply because a couple of comic-book-based movies were big hits. This is simplistic thinking at best, and a cold, calculated decision to combine an attempt to further milk a cash cow with flogging a dead horse. It would be like making a MAD Magazine movie and basing it strictly on Sergio Aragones' marginal drawings or Antonio Prohias' 'Spy Vs Spy' strips – although they did do a little-remembered 'Spy Vs Spy' video game 20 years ago, the reception of which might have shown them just what would have happened to a full-length big-screen feature.
