The YouTube channel called The Turn is all about one curve in the road. It appears that people pay no heed to the warning signs and take the curve at full speed, with predictable results. We don't know where it is, but TheOGturn lives nearby and has a camera. TheOGturn tells us the speed limit is 25-30 mph on the road, and there are warning signs in both directions about the curve, with recommended speed of 15-20 mph for the curve. He also says there have been no injuries on that curve since he's lived there, but plenty of damaged cars and bruised egos.
This is his first compilation video. We start off in winter, when you should be driving well under the recommended speed on snow-covered roads. But starting at #12, it's good weather. Starting at #14, they have sound, so be ready. (via Jalopnik)

Having grown up and learned to drive in the Northeast, I learned that all those recommended speeds at sharp curves were lies. Like, they sure hope you slow down to 15 MPH for your safety but if you know the curve you can take it at 40 MPH in complete safety. But when I moved to California for a spell, I quickly discovered that the recommended speeds there were very much the truth If the sign said slow down to 15 MPH they meant 15 MPH. Just one of those small but significant cultural differences between the two parts of the country.
I had to drive through a state park to get to work many years ago, and after months of driving there daily, figured that the recommended speeds are very good for tourists unfamiliar with the roads. But I was so familiar with every turn that I could exceed most of them by 10 mph. However, the vast majority of drivers were tourists who didn't read signs.
And the trouble with parks is the tourist sees a butterfly or flower that's new they stop... right there, right now, in the middle of the road. Sometimes get out and leave their door open!
