They sold meat substitute. Not a great business idea, since dedicated vegetarians and vegans don't even want something that resembles meat. Meat substitutes will take off when they are much cheaper or when meat isn't available.
Seeing as how it is/was located in London, I figured it was some Sweeney Todd variation. That is, the butcher kills Vegans and sells them as meat in his shop. It's closed now because he forgot to keep the plan a secret, though most people thought the name of the shop was some kind of joke or advertising ploy.
