I think they should have qualified that with "in theaters, in 1979." It was not a box office hit in the US, but it was on TV pretty soon afterward. A LOT of Americans saw it after The Road Warrior in 1981.

The link to the article on Strange Company doesn't work. That website is really odd. Links to articles don't open a page with the rest of the text. I'm using an Apple Mini iPad5 and no other website has this issue.

The Strange Company link works for me, but that's not an article. The "via" just acknowledges where I found the article about bicycle history.
