The goanna was fed a bucket of carp after he was rescued. The next day, workers found three goannas in the weir.

No no no, Cold means slow, slothish, hibernation, TV binging.
Winter = rest, recuperate, rejuvenate, plant the couch potato.
Unless of course you must mend the nets, repair equipment, sharpen the tools, feed the livestock, gather the eggs, etc, etc.
