Anybody else annoyed by the naming of battery powered cars as electric ?

I have battery drills, a battery vacuum, battery remotes for my electric heat pump, battery mobile phone, even some battery LED lights out on the deck.
None of them have cables that plug into the wall socket (240 volt in my country) ... imagine having a torch with a long cord attached.

But my coffee maker, oven, water heater, real vacuum cleaner, computer, lights, gate, and, ha, electric blankets, are all electric ... meaning they all have cords that plug into wall sockets.

But these electric cars .... I don't see them trailing cords as they drive along.
Thats because they are battery powered, not electric powered.

I don't suppose anyone else cares, but it is misnomer.
