Country musician and pioneering gay activist Patrick Haggerty died on Halloween at age 78. He was the leader of the band Lavender Country, and was recording and performing up until he suffered a stroke earlier this year. You can learn more about Haggerty in multiple links at Metafilter. One that touched me was the StoryCorps video about his childhood, in which his father gave him some legendary advice.
