I wonder how those people who witnessed or were involved with executions would feel if they had been part of the response team that was involved in dealing with the victims of the the condemned... cleaning up the carnage after the Las Vegas music festival shooting, for example, or being one of the cops to arrive on the scene of the student nurse murders in Chicago back in 1966, or finding the body parts in the Dahmer residence.

How anyone could come on scenes like these and still be willing to permit such evil people to continue to exist boggles my mind.

I've read of executioners who had difficulties with the job. Not saying that some people don't deserve it but except for the heat of the moment, I think most people would be hesitant to kill.

The article made me wonder about innocent people on death row. In the US there have been 190 people who have been found innocent and exonerated on retrials since 1973. https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/policy-issues/innocence

Makes you wonder how many innocent people died in the past.
