He's supposed to have two lanyards, so one can stay while he changes the other. Ten safety ropes wouldn't get me up there, but it probably pays well. (Thank, WTM!)These guys deserve so much respect

Respect? Maybe pity for their mental illness causing them to do that.
Yeah, they have that safety line MOST of the time and if you slip it will keep your from falling all the way. But now you're hanging by that line how in hell do you get back up?
