Well, "Porpoise” literally means “pig-fish” from Old French porpais (porc “pig, swine” + peis “fish”), which in turn may have originated from Old Norse mar-svin, meaning “mereswine.”

If you can think of a better reason behind that sign, let minnow.

It's a misspelling ... should be "see food", as in "whenever I see food, I eat it."
