We need more media coverage for pumpkin paddling and less for violent crime.

I wonder if $249 a day is what private prisons charge the states?

McSweeney is an idiot (the tiger pit fence link).

Any student loan that is forgiven (or partially forgiven) means us tax payers have to pay. We did not force those irresponsible people from taking out loans to then drop our of Larry's Barbershop School, State University, graduated with a useless degree, or graduated from law school and does not want to pay for it.

It is understandable for those who scraped money together (or parents did), worked during college, or paid off their loans are upset; it is the responsible on the line for the irresponsible.

Hopefully, Speaker Pelosi was correct back in April: the President has no power to forgive loans.

And before someone says "it is a COVID emergency, remember President Biden canceled Title 42--which as keeping illegals out of the US during the COVID emergency.

Yes, because that's all it is... people with "useless" degrees or Lawyers who just don't want to pay it back. There is no middle ground. But, I know, I know.. we've always done it that way, we can't change now!!! I suffered, so every generation must suffer. But as long as those politicians got their PPP loans forgiven then it's all okay.

Devilman5.0: comparing the PPP loans to student loans is like comparing apples to armadillos.

PPP loans: Here, have some money to keep your business afloat and employees paid while we shut you down. Oh, you only used the PPP loan for what you were supposed to? Well, it is now forgiven.

Student loan: Yes, I agree to borrow money to pay for college and will pay it back. I know this not required, but I need to finance my degree somehow.

The "I suffered so you can, too" is a strawman argument. Again, student loans are voluntary and contractual. The suffering is on you for foolishly not entering the loan contract with open eyes and knowing whether you can pay it. Or take it further: why should anyone suffer paying a mortgage just because mortgages have been paid for the last hundred years or so? Oh, that's right, you agreed to the mortgage to buy a house and pay back the mortgage.
