Roll On Down The Highway

Fred Turner and Robbie Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive originally wrote "Roll On Down The Highway" for the Ford Motor Company, but the company never used any of their songs. So they put the song on their 1974 album Not Fragile and the single became a top 20 hit.

I didn't know that little tidbit about Ford. Their loss. This is my favorite BTO song. Never got the airplay I thought it deserved. To this day, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet gets more and I still don't understand that. Probably because I never liked it.

As a former DJ you probably already know this, but back at ya: The album title is a subtle poke at Yes over their album Fragile.

Just a quick note, BTO was Randy Bachman, his son, I believe, is Robbie. In this video Randy is the one with the white guitar and white on black shirt. After BTO broke up, Randy joined Burton Cummings and the band "The Guess Who" around 2002.
According to Randy, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet is a jab at his brother who stutters when agitated.
Both bands are from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Thank you for all the entertaining and educational entries on your blog. Hopefully see you for another 17 years.
