Honest Trailer: Jurassic World: Dominion

Jurassic World: Dominion
is the sixth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise. That's about two films past the point in which most franchises have jumped the shark. Screen Junkies tells us that there are two things that set this movie apart from the others in the franchise. One is bringing back the cast of he original Jurassic Park, which is good even if it makes no sense. The other is locusts, which is bad because it doesn't add any terror to a world that already has dinosaurs running loose, and it makes even less sense. Maybe it's time to retire the franchise... which ain't going to happen no matter how bad the movies get, because they always make a ton of money. Oh yeah, here's the Honest Theme Song video they were talking about.

I wonder what Michael Crichton, who wrote the original novel "Jurassic Park", would have to say about how Hollywood and the studios have expanded and enlarged on his work.  I'm sure while he was alive he made money off the sequels as the original creator of the concept (and money does make a potent salve for a lot of ills), but we'll never know if he – or any other authors, like Peter Benchley (author of "Jaws"), whose works were turned into a money wheel that tried to roll on and on and on – ever regretted letting the genie out of the lamp in the first place.

This is why I am glad no one ever decided, "Hey, let's do a sequel to 'Field of Dreams'!"  Once you've caught lightning in a bottle, you're on a fool's errand if you set out to try to do it again.
