Take it from me, kids; once the body begins to go due to age, it can be a really quick trip down that slope. I'm now seeing more specialists than I would ever have imagined possible just 30 years ago. And now the wife has cataracts and needs $9000 surgery which is not covered by Medicare. And I need hearing aids very badly but those will have to wait until next year. Nope - not covered either.
On the other hand the deterioration doesn’t take any effort on your part, more of a spectator sport.
Now if you want to rage and not go gentle into the good night, then that takes effort, hard work, then everyone at your funeral will comment what good shape you were in at the end.
