Since there are two standard spellings, it's good to know which is proper. I was told that you only drop the "e" when you're referring to Scotch. However, there are multitudes of pronunciations, which makes this chart necessary. It's from Zach Weinersmith at Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

The best thing is never to refer to it as scotch.
All is now clear!
Lots of people have told me I should drink
less whisky. I'm sure it's worth a shot but
I haven't been able to find that brand anywhere.
