In fairness, quarters haven't had a consistent design since 1998 and the latest ones don't even have the same bust of Washington. But calling the police for this? (On the other hand, I witnessed a clerk refuse a nickel when they changed Jefferson's portrait nearly 20 years ago.)
I agree, I sort my coins into different jars and quarters have become unrecognizable. The newest ones are very shiny and the design stamped very shallow with tiny writing you have to get the light just right to read them. They look like they were produced by the lowest bidder, with only the size giving them away.
