Jamie Farr as Cpl. Max Klinger was supposed to be just a walk-on, "one-and-done" role in the M*A*S*H episode entitled "Chief Surgeon Who?"   That was the one with Sorrell Booke as General Barker, who comes to the 4077th after Hot Lips writes him a letter complaining about the selection of Hawkeye as Chief Surgeon, and delivers the line, "Still trying to get out on a psycho, eh, Klinger?" when he encounters Klinger wearing a dress while on guard duty.

There were so many before the Wright brothers that came "this close" or actually did sorta fly.
But the Wrights not only figured out how to keep it in the air, but the huge problem of steering it. That takes much more than just a tail rudder.
