French Parking

Supposedly this is common in France, or at least Paris. You don't engage your parking brake because someone may need to push your car. (via reddit)

Reminds me of a time in Rome where some friends and I walked back to our car to find it blocked by another car. This older guy at a nearby cafe came over and said "oh, the car is blocking yours, let me move it." Rather than starting it up, he just pushed it (with our help) out into the street. We thanked him and moved our car out, then offered to help push his car back.

"Just leave it where it is. It isn't my car."

So not engaging the parking brake, and a helpful old man, definitely helped keep us from getting stuck.
