What an incredibly stupid rule. Who cares what kind of shoes a graduate wears? That's HARDLY the point of the ceremony.
If only this info were publicized sooner, so that everyone could show up barefoot.
.... or just publicised at the time, so everyone could borrow and put on, big shoes !
A bit like a Ronald McDonald graduation.
