Our country may have survived this shit, and Trump has been excised like a malignant tumor. However, like a human body recovering from from cancer surgery, this is going to leave a scar.
And also, like a human who has had one brush with cancer, we will now live forever with the possibility that 'it might come back'. And the fact that five weeks after the election Trump and his minions still have not accepted reality only seems to prove to me that it WILL come back in some new form or another. Let's face it; Trump was a buffoon — Bozo the clown, down to the fake hair, the makeup, and the costume (seriously, couldn't SOMEONE show him the proper length to tie a necktie?) — and had no plan other than to stir up shit, 'own the libs', and in general just be an asshole.
But how about the next guy? Let's say the next person in line is someone smarter (and truly, that's a low bar to get over), someone who learns from Trump's mistakes, someone who actually has a plan, someone who actually knows how to do things, and we may not be so lucky.
We may have survived — for now, but things will never again be 'normal'.

I agree. The real problem is that the US has so many millions of voters who were willing to keep the tumor.
