I've been to the Buddy Holly crash site a few times... it always amazes me that there are always cars parked along the road, from all over the country, out here in the middle of nowhere. A well-trod path takes you to the actual spot, with markers and notes from people who have visited from all over the world. For a spot in the middle of a couple of Iowa cornfields, it is hard to fathom how much it means to so many people. Thanks for writing this article, Miss C!
People also still come to see the 'Field of Dreams' outside Dyersville Iowa and the covered bridges and other locations featured in "The Bridges of Madison County" in and around Winterset Iowa. It's strange what moves people... or maybe it's just because it's Iowa.
