Have you ever driven over a floating bridge? They move, which is frightening enough, but here in America, they usually stay above the water. The good part of this video is from 1:20 to about 2:00 if you don't want to watch the whole thing. You may come away with a renewed respect for the inspections, restrictions, and regulations we have to put up with. (via Daily Picks and Flicks)

unfortunately there is a group of Americans so short-sighted that they refuse to chip in in order to fund things like road repairs, inspections, etc. It's all about them.
Washington state being the exception. The Hood Canal bridge and the floating bridge across lake Washington both sank. Not to mention Tacoma's galloping gertie dramitic bridge collapse.
As for previous poster you are 100% right. Classic example is diaper donnie who doesn't think that he should pay for anything.

And he's still at it. His campaign paid Wisconsin $3 million for the recounts in Dane and Milwaukee Counties, but the Republicans in the legislature have blockaded any attempts to transfer this money from the state coffers to reimburse the two counties for the costs of conducting the recounts.
If by the time of the next election the Republicans were to go the way of the Whigs or the Know-Nothings, I don't think anyone would miss them.
