You might be surprised how many people are oxymorons! Although a couple of these sound like bit of a stretch. "Foreign national" is just a foreigner, but someone thought it sounded better with the second word. I've never heard of a militant pacifist, but it's a real thing. It took me a while to understand adult child, which sounds like new slang, but then I thought of a conversation in which you're talking about Betty, and someone asks. "Who's Betty?" And you explain that Betty is your adult child. Still, you'd more likely say Betty is your daughter. Anyway, this comic is from John Atkinson at Wrong Hands. (via Nag on the Lake)
