Pink Floyd's First New Song in 28 Years

Andriy Khlyvnyuk is the singer for the Ukrainian band Бумбокс (BoomBox). They were on tour in the US when Russia invaded, and Khlyvnyuk went back home to join the fight. You may recall hearing him sing here.

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour was looking for a way to help the Ukrainians. His daughter-in-law is Ukrainian. He had played with BoomBox in 2015, in better times. But he has considered Pink Floyd to be defunct since the death of keyboardist Rick Wright in 2008. They hadn't released any new music since 1994. But in the wake of the Russian invasion, Gilmour called up drummer Nick Mason and bassist Guy Pratt. Gilmour tracked down Khlyvnyuk to a hospital, where he was recovering from shrapnel injuries. The band recorded a new song, "Hey Hey Rise Up" using Khlyvnyuk's vocals. You can read about it at The Guardian. You can download the song here. (via Nag on the Lake)
