This takes me back to the 80's and a free program called Fractint. I spent hours exploring stuff like this. It inspired me to pursue my doctorate in math in chaotic dynamical systems. Third degree complex polynomials have a 4 dimensional parameter space. Anywhere you slice it, you get something like this.
