I’ve never heard of a transporter bridge before. The Newport Transporter Bridge has served those who cross the River Usk in Wales for a hundred years now. It’s like a ferry, but it’s a bridge instead of a boat. Why? Tom Scott explains the reasons the bridge was built this way, and the reasons they don’t make bridges like this anymore.
