Down here in the Antipodes (look it up) there has been calls of 'Give it back' regarding when the mighty Europeans came and annihilated the inferior native people and stole their land, or the evil colonisers came and wrecked the paradise of grass huts and pooing in the garden and made the native people have TVs and KFC ... depending on your point of view.
Not having grown up with an America-centric education and being forced to learn correct spelling and the metric system (its what American money is based on), it wasn't until a quite late stage of life that I found out that a lot of the states of the USA were once Mexican, obvious when you hear the names, California, New Mexico, Texas, et cetera
I am wondering if there is a push from bleeding heart woke types for the government to 'Give it back' ?
It would certainly solve the 'build a wall' situation ... or at least, move the wall to a line drawn strait from the southernmost tip of Alabama to Portland, Oregon.
Well, the Texians broke from Mexico because they wanted slaves and Mexico wouldn't allow it. So they revolted and declared their own Republic. The U.S. didn't really care until that war because we loved an underdog. And slaves. So the new Texans got excited and said can we play with you guys instead? Sure! we said. Then Mexico got all huffy about it and we kicked their arses fair and square all the way to Mexico City. They decided perhaps they shouldn't have done that so we kissed and made up. We gave them Mexico City back and took the rest of California in return.

I'm still trying to figure what woke is. I appears to be a catch all label for anyone who's views of the world are left of Andy Jackson. An epithet to sling at anyone who doesn't agree with you. If that's true then to me everyone in the world is woke.LoL xoxoxoBruce
