The last voice recording I have of my dad, who was a geologist, was an interview for my radio show after West Tennessee experienced an earthquake in the early '90s. He was factual yet reassuring. I no longer have a machine that could play the media. (via reddit)

I live on a large island in Japan. There's a giant, active volacano at it's centre that has wiped out the entire island on at least three occasions and it's currently well overdue for the latest one (by several hundred years, I believe) and know one knows why it hasn't gone off yet. I did not sleep well for a couple of weeks after I heard that.
