So many Mother Goose rhymes are meant to traumatize children. People did that for fun, back before we had movies.

O Printer! My Printer!
Mr. T-blog sent me a poem (Thanks!). It was inspired by the loss of TWO printers in a span of only two months. I can relate to the magnitude of this disaster. Apologies to Walt Whitman.
O Printer! my Printer! our fearful trip is done,
The laserjet has weather’d every rack, the PPM we sought is won,
The USB port is near, the drum roller I hear, the users all expletiving,
While follow eyes the DPI, the copy jam grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of ink,
Where on the desk my Printer lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
My Printer does not answer, his papertrays are pale and still,
My HP does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The laserjet is recycled safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From Staples trip the victor ship comes in with replacement won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Watch the desk my Printer lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

A Danny Elfman Christmas Story
Yes, I understand that November first seems too early to start the Christmas season, especially since haven't shaken Halloween out of our systems yet. So it's the perfect time for A Danny Elfman Christmas Story. Elfman knows about the macabre. The musician has been the composer for more than 100 films, including most Tim Burton films. Now he's written and narrated his own creepy story.
The tale is presented in poetic form, as Elfman delivers gifts dressed as Krampus and is confronted by a "fan" who is an actual demon. That's when things get weird. But as creepy as this one is, you have almost two months to get over it before Christmas. (via The Awesomer)

First They Came
First they came for the undocumented immigrants, and I said nothing, because I am not an immigrant.
Then they came for the career civil servants, but I said nothing because I am not a civil servant.
They came for the scientists, and I said nothing because I am not a scientist.
Then they came for the White House press corps, and I said nothing because I am not a journalist.
Then they came for the legal immigrants, and I said nothing, because I am a citizen.
Then they came for Medicaid and SNAP recipients, and I said nothing, because I am not a recipient.
Then they came for the farmers, manufacturers, and small businessmen, and I said nothing because my livelihood is not threatened by tariffs.
Then they came for school children, and I said nothing, because I already have those vaccinations.
Then they came for the comedians, and I said nothing, because I am not a comedian.
Then they came for the protesters, and I said nothing, because I hadn't said anything all this time.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

First They Came
But there were not enough undocumented criminals, so they came for undocumented laborers, and I did not speak out, because I was not an undocumented laborer.
Then they came for the asylum seekers, and I did not speak out, because I was not an asylum seeker.
Then they came for those with temporary protected status, and I did not speak out, because I was not under a TPS.
Then they came for student visas, and I did not speak, because I do not have a student visa.
Then they came for green card holders and tourists, and I did not speak out, because I have no green card.
Then they came for those who were born here, whose parents were undocumented, and I did not speak out, because my parents were born here, although I don't know if my immigrant ancestors came here "legally."
Then they came for naturalized American citizens, and I did not speak out, because I was not naturalized.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me.

The Young Dead Soldiers Do Not Speak
You may look at Memorial Day as the beginning of summer, a time to gather with family and friends and have a cookout or picnic. But let's not forget what the day is really for- remembering those who gave their lives fighting for America. This poem by Archibald Macleish is from 1940, but it still resonates.

28 Years Later
You thought the trilogy was complete, but no. In 2002, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland brought us 28 Days Later, which introduced zombies that moved swiftly and were therefore even more dangerous. In 2007, we got the sequel 28 Weeks Later. The third movie in the series is coming to theaters. 28 Years Later will be released on June 20, 2025.
In the trailer above, the soundtrack stands out as particularly intriguing. It is a famous recording, a 1915 recitation of the Rudyard Kipling poem "Boots" read by actor Taylor Holmes. The poem is about the forced marches of British soldiers across South Africa during the Second Boer War, its cadence echoing the psychological torture of the march.
