Australian musician Kirin J. Callinan's song "Big Enough" quickly piqued the attention of the internet in 2017, thanks to the sequence above. Fourteen seconds into it, I knew it had to be shared, even before I knew anything else about it. The whistler is Molly Lewis, and the raging cowboy is Jimmy Barnes. But you know, I often come across “facts” on the internet that turns out to be quite wrong, and now Joel Veitch of Rathergood and David Shute are doing their best to contribute to that mass of disinformation. It’s good that they made it go so fast, because if this were slow enough that your crazy great-aunt could understand it, she’d forward it to all her friends. (via b3ta)

She Wants to Pet the Dog

The video is just a few seconds long, but it contains multitudes. The little girl wants to pet the dog, but she can't because that's a bear! Her confusion may be funny, but I would have scooped the child up and had her in the door before she got the phrase out. Would it make you feel any better to know that the joke isn't real? The audio is from an earlier, unrelated TikTok video. That might make it less funny, but it's still dangerous to have a small child that close to a bear. Let's assume that the little girl was not eaten by the juvenile bear, and that she has learned to avoid such encounters in the future. The lesson is, don't believe everything you see on the internet, but there's nothing wrong in enjoying the funny fakes. Therefore, let the musical remixes commence!

Ice Bucket Aftermath

In 2014, everyone and their brother was dumping a bucket of ice and water over their heads and posting videos of it on the internet. It seemed like a dumb idea, but it was funny, and more importantly, it was a fundraiser. The Ice Bucket Challenge had people suffering from ice water, after which they would challenge three people by name to do the same, or else contribute money to charity. The challengers requested donations for various charities at first, but became viral for the ALS Foundation when many celebrities got involved. Many participants donated even when they performed the challenge. And the ALS Foundation got a total of more than $100 million over time. What did that money do? Donut Rat

 Back in 2015, a video of a New York City rat carrying a slice of pizza back to his family became the biggest meme of the year. People in the flyover states were horrified, and New Yorkers were charmed to see two city icons come together (pizza and rats). But there may be a replacement hitting the internet.  

A couple of days ago, Carly Hittner posted a video of a rat finding a donut under the tracks of the New York City subway. That TikTok clip has gone viral, and may be the next big thing. Too bad it's a little late to be a Halloween costume this year -or is it? You could easily repurpose the Pizza Rat costume you bought a few years ago and carry around a donut instead of pizza. Better make it a dozen donuts, since people will expect you to share, just like the original rat. If you want to argue that this is not a donut but a bagel, go ahead and have fun with that. The Corn Kid Gets a Song

Last month, we were charmed by a little boy who loves corn. The video by Julian Shapiro-Barnum of Recess Therapy went super-viral, and has taken on a life of its own. The boy's name is Tariq, and the Gregory Brothers made a little song out of the video about corn. Proceeds from the sale of the song will be split with Tariq and his family. Play it during dinner, if you're having corn!
