I am mortified by the attitudes this regime has toward immigrants. This country only recently issued a public apology to the Americans of Japanese descent who were incarcerated during WWII. They lost everything. And here we are doing an even worse cruelty to people who are perceived to be in violation of a civil statute (not a criminal statute). Locking people in facilities that would have PETA up in arms if these conditions were inflicted on an animal. Surely human beings born elsewhere are worthy of the kind of humane treatment we would hope to receive if we were the foreigner. We, as Americans, as "Christians" (and I use that term derogatorily), as fellow human beings, should be appalled by what's going on today. We should be banding together to oust and prosecute the perpetrators of such inhumane treatment.
But the fear of our own arrest, our own incarceration keeps us silent.
Re: the bottle of Dijon that got all the hot. When I was in fifth grade the teacher read us a book a little bit at a time over many days, I think just before or just after lunchtime. It started with the man in the breakfast cereal factory falling asleep, so the lever that regulated vitamin X, responsible for growth, stayed all the way on and dumped thousands of cereal boxes' worth of it all into /one box/. A little boy ended up buying that box to feed his pet mole, which grew up bigger than a house and, to escape the army (!) and provide for the boy, it killed itself digging him an oil well. Probably something like the first part of that happened with the mustard... Oh! I just got help to find the book. It's /Mr. Twigg's Mistake/, and you can read it with a free account on the Internet Archive's Open Library: https://archive.org/details/mrtwiggsmistake00laws/mode/2up
