Marvel's Tribute to Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman portrayed iconic historical figures like Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall in movies, but was most familiar to audiences as King T'Challah, aka the Black Panther. Marvel Entertainment released this moving tribute to Boseman, who died Friday after a four-year battle with cancer. (via Uproxx)
Girl Takes Off with Kite
Nanliao, Taiwan, near Hsinchu City, hosted a kite festival amid unusually strong winds this past weekend. When one of the kites was launched, it dragged along a 3-year-old girl who had become entangled in the kite's tail. She was flung high in the air before kite operators could pull the kite down, and the crowd caught the little girls as she descended. The unidentified girl was not injured, at least physically. See a video from another angle below, in which the kite is prepared for launch. It takes off at about :45 in.
The child was rushed to a hospital, and was found to have only suffered a few scratches. The kite festival was immediately suspended. (via Geekologie)
She Did It!
Earlier this summer, planes spent a lot of time on the ground when everyone canceled their vacation and business trips. That led to some shenanigans among flight crews. Flight attendant Lindsey O'Brien proved that she could close four overhead bins with her feet. Not only did she do that while supporting her body weight with her arms, she was doing in in a skirt and high heels!
"I used to do yoga and I was a cheerleader growing up so my core is pretty strong and I had to see if I could do it,” O’Brien told the outlet after her friend “wanted to try the move.”(via Dave Barry)

Self-Driving Cars
One would think that "avoiding obstacles" would be a better priority. Before I started teaching my kids to drive, we went over the three most important things about driving. 1. Don't hit anything, 2. don't let anything hit you, and 3. get where you are going. That covers it pretty well, I think. This comic is from Zach Weinersmith at Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

The History of The Universe in 13,799 Dominoes
Kurtis Baute set up thousands of dominoes in order to tell the story of the universe. The more you watch this, the crazier you realize it is. Not only does he set up and topple 13,799 dominoes, he also narrates a timeline of the universe as it happens, with each domino representing a million years. The timing had to be precise, the props along the way had to be work without knocking over dominoes, and if he screwed up too much, that's a lot of dominoes to reset. I believe the sparkler didn't work right, but he didn't stop, and they edited that in. Just designing this idea had to be a ton of work! But don't get distracted by overthinking all that, or by his obvious nervousness and heavy breathing. The story he's telling is fascinating in itself. (via Geekologie)

Yeah, we say things all the time that make no sense if you take them literally. How Many Members of Your Sign Does It Take to Change a Lightbulb?
I don't pay any attention to astrology, but I found this in the archives and thought it might be amusing. Now, about changing that light bulb...
ARIES: Just one. Wanna make something of it?
TAURUS: Well, I prefer natural light if at all possible. Are you absolutely positive that lightbulb is burned out? I hate to throw it away if it still might be useful.
GEMINI: Probably one is best, because if there are more than one, they'll get so wrapped up in talking to each other that they'll forget all about the lightbulb.
CANCER: Only one, but three therapists will be needed to help with the grieving process. OR: Only one, as long as his mommy holds his hand.
LEO: Leos do not change their own lightbulbs. They find someone else to do it for them.
VIRGO: 1.11111119873, give or take .00000000000013%.
LIBRA: Well, I could do it, unless of course you'd prefer to do it, but you look sort of busy right now. What do you want to do?
SCORPIO: One, from across the room, if they've learned their teleporting lessons well enough.
OR, thanks to one of our website visitors: None, because Scorpios aren't afraid of the dark.
SAGITTARIUS: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got the rest of our lives ahead of us and you're worrying about a stupid light bulb?
CAPRICORN: I don't have time for these foolish jokes.
AQUARIUS: Well, you see, energy is really matter and matter is really energy and light is a form of energy but the light bulb is matter, and--
PISCES: What light bulb?

An Honest Trailer for Mean Girls
Tina Fey read the nonfiction book Queen Bees and Wannabees, about the toxic culture of teen girls, and wrote a fictional treatment which became a big hit in 2004. Neo Takes The Blue Pill
In every life there's a point where the road forks, and you must choose which way to go, which affects everything that comes after. In the movie The Matrix, the protagonist Neo takes the red pill and goes down the rabbit hole. But what if he didn't? What if he had chosen the blue pill instead (in this case, it's not Viagra)? VFX creator Chris Ume takes the road not traveled, and the story become an entirely different movie, with the help of deep fake technology. Still, one thing revealed is that it takes more than just a face alone to make Keanu Reeves. (via Digg)
