I’m not sure, but that 29 day call up for NG may not be all that unusual. My sister was in the NG in Florida many years ago and she was called for duty for aid after hurricanes a few times. She remembers that the orders were always for 29 days.
That's sad. It's like the employers who make sure workers never get more than 32 hours because then they'd have to provide benefits.
