The hit by Melanie with the Edwin Hawkins Singers has been posted here before, but this version is from a Dutch TV show in 1970. She was much more popular in the Netherlands than she ever was in the U.S. The young folk singer tells how impressed she was that the Gospel choir consented to collaborate with her. I was mentally questioning the "had" but I see she died last year. I had forgotten or was unaware but yes, what an amazing voice. I still play Brand New Key once in awhile.
I had to check that she was American, because of how she spoke. Russian/Ukrainian father, Italian mother ... and trump wants to get rid of immigration ?
