So Obvious as to Draw Attention

Wood found inside a corndog-on-a-stick? Who would have thought? This is a real headline, from today. You have to read the story to understand. Pieces of wood, presumable from the sticks, have been found in the cornbread batter surrounding the dog, and injuries have been reported. That's why the recall. Check your frozen corndogs. From outside the U.S.A. .... 58M and pounds in the same sentence had me confused until I realised they were not talking about money but weight (not that you will care, but the sooner you all adopt the metric system the better it will be for us ... and you). We don't use pounds for money, but we used to up until 1967 ... you should have heard the slow of mind whinge about having to learn the new decimal currency system ... took me about 9 seconds, mind you I was quite young back then in those dark medieval times ... shorter too.
From outside the U.S.A. .... So, corn dogs are just hot dogs wrapped in batter ? We have adopted the American term 'hot dog' from watching movies, and it means a sausage on a stick, wrapped in a deep fried batter, so a corn dog is a just hot dog (to us foreigners) When we have a sausage in a bun we call that a hot dog in a bun ... clever huh ? A lot of American influence here but we still keep our own identity too ... here for me is Australia and New Zealand, two different countries but with a lot of common bonds ... a 2 hour flight gets us from one to the other, same distance as from New York city to Oklahoma City, or Los Angeles to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
