All you're trying to do is raise an philosophical question and some guy, an engineer in this case, has to go and use common sense. This comic is from Zach Weinersmith at Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. (via some comments at Mastodon)
A conversation like this will never happen in the US Congress. There's no one there with common sense.
Instead, they'll argue over just how much 'executive privilege' the POTUS has, and whether or not it extends to creating and using a 'Mission: Impossible'-like force to eliminate political foes and enemies or subvert foreign actions and powers.

Does this show that philosophy is mostly navel gazing, smoke and mirrors solutions to hypothetical situations which are impossible?
