Here's a True Hero

Josh Harrold felt blessed when his wife was given a second chance after brain cancer, and when his daughter survived weeks in the NICU. He is paying it forward in a big way. In 2017, he donated one of his kidneys to a friend. And now he is donating part of his liver to a baby girl he doesn't know. Josh signed up to be a liver donor after witnessing the anguish parents go through when their infants are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Four years later, he got the call to undergo surgery even though he's healthy, for the benefit of a child who would otherwise die. If everything goes right, his liver will regenerate, and the portion donated will grow into a full liver. (via Fark)

I am glad anti-rejection drugs that organ recipients have to take for the rest of their lives have gotten better over time.

In the '80's, a good friend of mine donated a kidney to her father; three weeks later, her father's personality did a 180 and she became an orphan.

About 15-20 years ago, a coworker said her mom's personality changed quite a bit after a heart transplant.

Shortly after that, I met someone who had a transplant (either a liver or heart) and she seemed unaffected by the drugs--but I met her after the transplant happened.

So the progress in the drug treatment has gotten much better.

That gives me an idea, I know some people I'd like to change. I wonder if you can hide those drugs in a drink?
