Honest Trailer: Elvis

When Screen Junkies gives us an Honest Trailer, the expectation is that they'll tear a movie apart and tell us everything that went wrong. However, when critiquing Baz Luhrmann's movie Elvis, they have little to criticize the film for. They poke fun at Baz Luhrmann (for his other films), the casting of Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker (but not his acting), and the story the movie told, because it was beyond bonkers (but it was a true story). They couldn't say one bad thing about Austin Butler's portrayal of Elvis, except that the camera lingered on his pelvis. Elvis was quite a hit over the summer. That doesn't mean this Honest Trailer isn't worth a watch, because it is. The movie was bonkers, but that's what was called for when you do a biopic of Elvis.

Stretches the ability to believe when you have the same person playing a main role in nearly every big movie.
So now I have to pretend that I don't see Forest Gump, a crashed pilot, an abandoned beach bum ... and all the rest of the roles ... when I see Elvis's manager.
I understand that there are not many people in the USA, and hence fewer actors, but come on, even here in New Zealand, we use different actors for different movies.
If your movies are so ... no ... if you have such little faith in your movie's success that you feel compelled to use the same face all the time (like the guy from BIG but older now, ffs) ... maybe you shouldn't be the one who picks the cast.
I'm not saying this movie isn't good, just saying that marriages get stale from seeing the same face every waking morning, and maybe they should kick Tom Hanks out of bed.

Very simple, just watch New Zealand movies, your problem is solved.
