Advice for a Happy Home

This makes me recall those years when I had young children with a stay-at-home father. The end of my workday was mainly a hand-off so I could take over the chaos of running the household. (via reddit)

Was just on another site and commented that I know a few who consider themselves "real men" who are in fact being babysat by their partners. Couldn't cook a meal or sew on a button or change a diaper for the life of them.

Written by a guy. 'Cause in the '50s it was cool for guys to be manipulative narcissistic psychos. A sign of true love baby, like you don't hardly see no more.

Cook a meal, sew on a button? Of course I could but why should I have to?
Oh, that's right, I'm single... nevermind.

My father was like that, supper is at 5pm, everything and everyone should be ready.

Just want to point out that back when that was written a man could get a job that would house, clothe, and feed his family; there was no need for most women to have to enter the workforce.

Of course, people didn't have to have three-story McMansions, two cars, and a movie-screen sized TV, or plan to take vacations to exotic locations like they were members of the Explorer's Club going on safari.  When they wanted to make a phone call or know what time it was they used the thing on the wall or looked at a twelve-dollar Timex they wore on their wrist instead of a thousand-dollar electronic gizmo.

It was HUGE news when Elizabeth Taylor demanded and got paid a million dollars for appearing in 'Cleopatra' or a football player would get a $20,000 signing bonus; nowadays actors won't even sign an autograph for less than a $20 bill, and even run-of-the-mill ballplayers are pulling down salaries with figures that look like a small country's GNP.

Let's face it – we started getting some luxuries, then we got spoiled, and then we just plain got greedy.
