For one thing, the second column from the right has checkers floating above empty space. For another, there are already four greens lined up horizontally. I'm sure there's more. (via Buzzfeed)

Either that, or they DID come up with a way to make the checkers float above an open space, and they got their own patent for that improvement on the original. (/sarcasm)
