I still have a bucket of mismatched socks from back when the kids were in middle school -at least ten years ago. I use them for cat toys (stuffed with homegrown catnip), or for when I need to pick up something nasty from the floor and toss it all in the garbage. This comic is from Nathan Pyle's Strange Planet.

I fought the inevitable in my youth but then resigned myself to buying socks all the same, a couple dozen pair at a time. Open drawer, take out two socks, put them on, open eyes.
