Slinky Escalator

It walks down stairs, alone or in pairs… watching a slinky walk itself down stairs is one of the great pleasures in life. What if a slinky had a never-ending staircase? Matthias Wandel set out to make it so.

The build wasn’t easy, and there were a lot of glitches along the way -but they are entertaining to watch as well. I can’t get over Wandel's persistence and determination to make this work. The illustrated tutorial is at Wood Gears. (via Digg)
