Great post! One of my grandsons was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 6. The school didn't accept the diagnosis, as it was not done through the school. However, the school had refused its legal obligation to do testing. Long story short, my grandson, who was small for his age, was bullied throughout school, even though he attended a performing arts magnet. He then went to an experimental school, and then Catholic school. My daughter and her husband finally got tough with the district, and he went to a special high school for kids with Asperger's. The school helped him enormously in learning how to navigate the world. And because he was high functioning, he had some great opportunities, including student government and giving the graduation address.
He's in college now, and has his own tax and insurance business on the side. And he works part time as a trainer at the YMCA. His dogs were at home, but the helped too.

My love to Nathan and Silvia.
Good for him! Thanks, for that story, Barbwire!
