Kudos to the Florence Mall developers for not insisting that the water tower be repainted once the mall did open.

Exit numbers get confusing, though, when two (or more) Interstate highways share the same pavement. Example – Interstate 94 enters Wisconsin from the west near Hudson, WI, and runs southeast for roughly 147 miles to Tomah, WI. where it merges with Interstate 90 – which entered Wisconsin near La Crosse, WI, forty-five miles east of this junction. Once the two freeways merge, however, the mileage-based exit numbers reflect the distance from where I-90 entered the state, not I-94 (I assume this is because 90 is a lower number than 94). It's not until the two highways split eighty-three miles later, outside of Madison, WI, and Interstate 94 veers east toward Milwaukee that the exit numbers again start to reflect the total distance from where I-94 entered Wisconsin from Minnesota.
