Clanadonia in Glasgow

Clanadonia is a band from Glasgow that plays the traditional music of tribal Scotland. They took their pipes and drums downtown for a free concert not too long ago. (via Everlasting Blort)

I hadn't seen a kilt like they wear with the long piece hanging down in back.

Look it up ... there's much more to a true Highland kilt than just the 'skirt'.

An old-style Great Kilt is like a sari, in that it is an un-sewn single piece of cloth, wrapped around the body just so. A sari has the pleats in front, and a kilt has the pleats in back. The kilt can optionally end over the shoulder, while a sari always does because in the old days, women didn't wear a shirt under a sari.

Damn, as many times as I've seen it I never noticed the sash was attached/par of the kilt. Ha, I feel my grandparents looking down(or up), rolling their eyes and shaking their heads.
